General Questions
We find your logger useful, how can we help you out?
It won't take much, all you need to do is click on a few ads on my site, every once in a while. Each ad click generates a small amount of revenue for the site. In turn increases our revenue for hosting this tool. We put alot of work into this website, please show your appreciation by visiting our sponsors. You don't even need to view the contents of our sponsors, just click on the links.
I have some suggestions and feedback that you might find useful, how do we let you know about it?
We encourage our users to contact us and let us know about some features that they want added to our site or just general feedback about the tool. You can use our contact page to send us an email.
Can I tell my friends about your tool? or post a link to your site on my xanga? You're not going to run out
of space like the rest of the Loggers available now?
Yes, we encourage all of our users to promote our website if they feel our tool can benefit their friends or their readers to their xanga. Do not worry about us running out of space. We have paid for and allocated space for a tremendous amount of users. We are a professional web team and are dedicated to providing the best Xanga Logger available.
Are you affiliated with Xanga.com?
Gottem.net is in no way affiliated with Xanga.com. We are our own separate entity. We do not abide by their terms and conditions, and have no obligations to do so.
Why are there so many advertisements?
The advertisements appear on our site because without them, we would not be able to provide this service to you for free.
My Account Questions
Why can't I log in? -- I keep getting redirected back to the login page.
Your browser must have your cookies turned off or disabled. The logger uses cookies to retain user information, so if your cookies are not working, you can't log in. Follow the instructions listed on this page: http://www.gottem.net/help/cookies.php
Will you delete my account if I don't sign on or don't have any visits?
Yes. We will delete all accounts which we identify as being "inactive." This means, people who haven't signed into their got'em account within the past month or two, will have their accounts deleted. You can of course sign up again if your account was deleted
What time zone are you using and can I change it to my local time zone?
We default to using the eastern standard time zone. If you would like to use your own local time zone, just go to the My Settings page.
I need to reset my log, and start with a new log.
No problem. Go to your setting's page and reset your stats using our form. Please remember that resetting your log, means deleting all entries and all visitor stats from your log.
I want to change my email address and change my password.
Go to your setting's page and change your password and email address.
I forgot my password, please help!
Visit our password reminder page to have your password sent to you. Please note that we will send the password to the email address that you used to originally sign up with.
I have changed xanga usernames, and I want to change it to my
username on my got'em account. If you created a new xanga account and want your got'em account to reflect it, please use the contact form to tell us, and we'll change the username for you. Remember: if you got'em account username is different than your xanga username, then got'em will track visits to your own xanga page, when you are logged in as yourself.
Logging Problems
My logger does not work, it hasn't tracked any visitors!
Make sure you installed our script correctly. Please go back to the instructions page if you are unsure. The script has to be separate from the other code that you have in your "webstats" area. Each script that you have in your "webstats" area has to be enclosed in it's own <script> </script> Here is an example <script> Got'em Logger script ... </script> <script> other script #1 </script> <script> other script #2 </script> Even unclosed <applet> tags can cause problems. If you are still having problems, please feel free to contact us. We can even look at your code for you, to make figure out why your logger isn't working.
All of my visitors come up as one name (some examples are "private", "home", "yours")
This happens because you have a custom skin installed on your xanga page. The skin overrides all of your visitors name with a certain word, which is why all of your visitors are tracked as that word. In order to correct this problem, you'll need to have this skin removed.
My logger only tracks "unknowns" even though I know they are not!
This problem has effected a small percentage of our users. The problem lies in your "javascript plugins" that you have installed on your xanga. The plugins could remove code from your xanga page that we need to track the visitor's username. There is always a link that sits on the top right of a xanga page that shows your username when you are signed on. This is the link we use to track the visitor's username, if you have removed that with your plugin, then we can't track the usernames. There is nothing we can do about this because we can't control what you put on your site. To fix this problem, you will have to remove the problem javascript plugin. Here are some few hints that may apply to you:
My logger doesn't track all the hits to my xanga?
If you know that someone has visited your site and don't see his or her visit being tracked, there are many reasons as to why it wasn't tracked.
My logger isnt working, I have no visitors even though I know people have visited my site?
Make sure you copied the script correctly and in the correct spot. Go back to the instructions page if you are not sure.
How come when I check my own xanga page, my own visits get tracked?
This means that you have signed up for a got'em account that isn't the same as your xanga account. If for example your xanga user name is "tracyb" but you signed up for a got'em account with "tracyx", we have no way of distinguishing between the two. So your own visits will be tracked. Contact us and we will change your got'em account to your xanga username. Note: we noticed that many users have signed up for a got'em account with the "http://www.xanga.com/" url prepended to their got'em account name. This will be a problem and your own visits wil lbe tracked until you have your got'em account changed.
Other Problems
I tried deleting entries but nothing happened?
JavaScript must be turned on. Make sure to turn it on before trying to delete.
How many entries are we allowed to have?
At the moment, we do not limit the amount of entries that you have. But remember that the more entries that you have, the slower your page will load.
Why does my log(s) take so long to load?
If you have alot of entries, then your log will take longer to load. To keep your log loading efficiently, try loading only 10 entries per page view. Also, you should keep your entries to a minimum. If you delete the entries that you no longer need, your log will load faster.
I deleted a bunch of entries for this one person, but when I view his popup, it still says he has X amount of visits?
When you delete an entry from your log, you will not be decreasing the number of visits stat for that visitor. If for example honey_man visited your site 33 times, and you went and deleted 32 of his entries. His number of visits stat is still set at 33. |
